Four Paw Bed & Biscuit started out as most great things do - a thought. Amanda Wells, as a college student at Longwood University, decided to take her love of animals and her many years of veterinary experience and put it to use. She started up her own pet-sitting business as a side job while she was working at Blackstone Animal Clinic. She wanted a job that she would truly love, and that was caring and loving other people’s dogs when they were away. This business steadily grew to her watching many dogs in her own home. Soon, it became so busy she realized she didn’t have the capacity to hold all of her furry friends there anymore.

After some thought, her and her family decided it was time to build a place for all of the dogs to stay. Amanda’s husband and her father, along with countless others, worked tirelessly for two years to make Four Paw Bed & Biscuit a reality. Keeping an environment much like her home was a top priority. She wanted a living room with comfy couches and plenty of places for the dogs to nap, just like they’re at home. She even included a TV so the dogs can keep up with their favorite shows! After a ton of work, the kennel finally opened in August of 2017.

First operated solely by Amanda, business began to boom and steadily she hired more employees to help with all of the dogs under her care. She now has seven wonderful staff members to help care for not only the pups that walk through the door, but their owners to. She went from offering pet-sitting out of her own home to offering boarding, daycare, and grooming services, all of which have grown exponentially since her first opening.

Starting out as a home grown business…and I mean that literally, this place has become an amazing show of just how far you can come with a lot of love and support. Not just from the people who built it, but from the people who made it happen. All of the clients and friends who have entrusted Amanda to watch their precious babies are just as big a part of this place as anyone.
